Vomit.

As I was on my routine of scrolling through the web and social media "walls". I noticed something. And that motivated me to write about it here. :)

Looking upon posts after posts of statuses and sharing on Facebook led me to this unique feeling of disgust. This is rare because... well, I don't feel like that always, especially while browsing the world wide web. I noticed the repetitiveness of the posts within the vague uniqueness in each post.

"OOO! A cat video!" *clicks* "OOOOO! Yet another news post on Facebook... looks interesting..." *clicks* "WOW, someone I subscribed too posted a review on Avengers, gotta go check it out and see what he thinks about it!" *clicks*

I get into this zombie mode of constant clicking and absorbing all these mindless things and before I know it, hours and hours have been wasted without doing much productive things. Don't get me wrong, there are articles and videos that are educational and informative and I read/watch them too, but I think the majority of the time these "good" articles/videos get clustered into a whole bunch of mind-numbing materials to make me feel less guilty.

"Oh man, 4 hours passed already? So wasted. Oh wait, I learned about the neuroplasticity and the implications of it in a 4 minute video somewhere in between those 240 minutes. Sounds good enough for me." *mentally pats my own back* "OOOO! A video about the Top 10 Times the World Nearly Ended" *clicks*

"As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly."

A well known proverb. This was the phrase that came to my mind when browsing Facebook earlier. Thought it was something I picked up unknowingly in English class, only to find out that it's mentioned twice in the Bible after a quick Google search.

I think that proverb aptly describes my situation. I'm constantly using the internet as a gateway to this biggest collection of vomit pit. Yes, it sounds disgusting and I purposely want it to be that way because that's what I felt at the moment when I was browsing Facebook. Pure disgust.

The question that popped up in my mind.... Why am I doing this when I'm so disgusted about it? What's so special about checking on My Subscriptions on YouTube or my Facebook wall of statuses by others that keep me glued to my sit staring at a screen for hours. Even when I'm off the computer, that doesn't stop because of the great and mighty invention of smartphones. Great.

Remember those moments when you burp and some of your semi-digested food mixed with stomach acid gets regurgitated out and the brief moment of shiver sent down your spine before you can swallow it back? That's how it felt like.

This brings me to the main point for this post. WHAT AM I FEEDING MY BRAIN?
